A helicopter crash on Camp Pendleton has killed two people, according to the Associated Press. Sgt. Sean McGinty of Marine Air Station Miramar said in an official statement that the AH-1 Cobra went down around 1:00 this afternoon. The helicopter was part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft wing, which is based at MCAS Miramar.
The Camp Pendleton Fire Department Facebook page reports the crash also sparked a vegetation fire. Officials say that fire has grown to 50 acres, and is burning in the southeast area of the base. According to the CPFD:
