USS Boxer to Return to San Diego on Friday

Family members of the USS Boxer crew are anxiously awaiting the week's end, as the Navy announced today the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group will arrive in San Diego on Friday.

TheBoxer Amphibious Ready Group - which includes the USS Boxer, the USS Comstock, and the USS Green Bay - left San Diego in February for a seven-month deployment.

Capt. Curtis Shaub commands the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group. He says of the homecoming:

The USS Boxer's deployment was not without tragedy. While the ship was deployed in the Gulf of Aden in July, 21-year-old Cryptologic Technician (Interpretive) Second Class Matthew Bergman fell overboard and was later declared lost at sea after an exhaustive search.
