Family and friends will hold a private memorial service for Capt. Nathan Anderson, 32, at the MCAS Yuma chapel tomorrow. At the family's request, the service is not open to the public nor the media. Anderson was one of seven Marines killed February 22nd when two helicopters collided during training exercises near MCAS Yuma. The other six Marines who died were based at Camp Pendleton.
Yuma television station KYMA-TV reports the service will be held at 2 p.m. - the same time Anderson and his wife Amanda got married. Anderson's wife and two young sons live in Yuma where Capt. Anderson was based, although the Marine grew up in Amarillo, Texas.
According to the Amarillo Globe-News, Anderson was a starting lineback on the Amarillo High School football team. Anderson was also on the track team, where coach Jim Langdon described him as a quiet leader:
