Army Sgt. Stephen M. New, 29, was killed July 28, in Bagram, Afghanistan. The Department of Defense reports New died of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by small arms fire.
New was from Bartlett, Tennessee. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Jackson, Mississippi.
