A small plane has crashed near a desert airstrip in San Diego County, killing at least one person.
The sheriff's office says the plane went down Thursday afternoon near the airport in Borrego Springs in the far northeastern reaches of the county. The name of the victim was not immediately available.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Jankola says investigators are trying to determine the cause.
Officials had no further information.
