  • Mellano & Company, a family-owned San Diego-based flower farm, is excited to announce their participation in the annual Petal it Forward campaign in downtown Oceanside on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. The company will be at the Civic Center, 300 N. Coast Hwy., with a flower cart handing out 1,200 free, fresh-cut flowers to the community. “We are excited to connect with Oceanside residents and make their day a little brighter,” Mellano & Company President Mike A. Mellano said. “Flowers have the ability to make people smile, and the opportunity to make someone’s day just a little bit better with our flowers is something we do not take lightly and are extremely excited about. It’s time to help spread love and kindness, something our company is all about.” Mellano & Company will participate in the eighth Petal It Forward, a campaign started by the Society of American Florists to bring awareness to the health benefits of receiving and giving flowers. Representatives from the farm will be in downtown Oceanside on October 19 handing out flowers from the company’s local, Southern California farm to residents walking the downtown area. Petal It Forward is a nationwide campaign encouraging local florists to hand two flowers or bouquets to an unsuspecting stranger, urging them to keep one and share the other with someone else. Started by the Society of American Florists, the day is an example of the industry coming together for a common goal of spreading love and kindness throughout local communities. Mellano & Company is proud to do their part in bringing this national campaign to Oceanside. For more information on Mellano & Company, visit mellano.com. • The Lullabar, a wellness cafe for moms and caregivers, is set to open its doors on June 19 at The Beacon La Costa. The cafe aims to provide a space for mothers and caregivers to connect with others while taking part in self-care services while little ones are safely entertained in the play gym. At The Lullabar, moms and caregivers can meet with friends for coffee or matcha, or use the cafe as a workspace. The cafe will also offer a range of self-care services, such as mani/pedis and meditation classes. In addition to these services, The Lullabar will provide a variety of motherhood workshops. Self-care workshops (from $30 to $60) will cover topics from breastfeeding to CPR, postpartum mental health, parenting for picky eating, and fostering speech and language development. The cafe's founders understand that motherhood can be challenging and hope to provide a supportive space for mothers to connect and learn from each other. The grand opening of The Lullabar promises to be an exciting event, with an array of healthy food and drink options available. Attendees can also explore the space and learn about the different services and workshops that will be offered.
