  • Saturday, May 6 from 1 – 4 p.m. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Join us on the Bay for this free opportunity to hear Beth discuss her memoir, "Deep Waters", the inspirational story of how her family dealt with her husband’s rare kind of stroke, how it affected her career, and how she learned to adapt and overcome.   • To celebrate the launch of its first breakfast cereal, Quaker Chewy is hitting the road with the Chewy Family Play Wagon, a fully interactive and playful bus where families will get a taste of both the chocolate and strawberry Quaker Chewy Granola flavors. The Chewy Family Play Wagon features interactive bus panels including blocks to color, a marble run, and a bean bag toss to encourage play in a fun and safe setting. While all ages are welcome to attend, only kids ages 4 to 10 will be allowed to interact with the Chewy Family Play Wagon; and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate. The Chewy Family Play Wagon is completely free and does not require a reservation to attend.
