  • Friends of the Fallbrook Library announces its first annual fundraising event, Advancing Children’s Literacy. Funds raised will be dedicated for children’s programs, including an ongoing distribution of free books to local kids from our bookstore, the Bottom Shelf, beginning January 2024. A celebration will be held on Sunday, November 12 at 1 p.m. at the library. Enjoy an afternoon of fun and festivities featuring delicious hors d’oeuvres, a hosted wine bar and silent auction. Three best-selling Southern California authors, Thomas Perry, Susan Strait and T. Jefferson Parker will speak and sign books. Meet and mingle with the authors and bid on a chance to appear in their upcoming novels. Tickets for the event are $50 and may be purchased at the FOFL website, or at the Bottom Shelf.   • The public is invited to the free Family Holiday Festival at Village Walk at EastLake on Saturday, December 2 from 12 – 3 p.m. After Santa’s arrival at noon, he’ll listen to children’s wishes as parents take keepsake pictures with their cameras and smart phones. Children will get a holiday activity book from Santa’s Elf and enjoy decorating a holiday stocking at the Craft Activity area. Everyone in the family can take a free ride on the Holiday Express Train. You’ll want to return to Village Walk at EastLake for more memorable holiday events in December! People can enjoy the NEW, FREE Holiday Light Shows at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through December 24, at the same times near the Koi Pond at the beautiful shopping village. Children will receive free Magic Glasses to view the light show in assorted colors. Community caroling groups will walk through Village Walk at EastLake singing holiday favorites to entertain visitors between the 6 and 7 p.m. light shows through December 23.
