Coastal Roots Farm hosts the first Tishrei Ag Fest, celebrating the Hebrew month of Tishrei, often referred to as the “month of beginning.” The cycle of agriculture requires a continual regeneration, repair, and renew to grow. Likewise, the Hebrew month of Tishrei is the first month of the Jewish year and reminds us that such renewal is possible at the human level too; with each new year, we reflect where we have been and where we’re going so that we may begin again with intention. There will be plenty of activities for the entire family, including holiday activities, food workshops, and panel discussions. It's the season for special gatherings and this is one you do not want to miss! This is an interactive 3-hour workshop and is $89 per guest. This event will start with a DIY workshop to make an entertaining staple: your choice of one 12" Round Pedestal Tray, 12" Round Wood Tray, or a 6x16 Mini Wood Tray. Customize your Lazy Susan or Pedestal Tray with your choice of (non-toxic!) stain and designer paint colors. Then you will have a cookie decorating lesson from Jennifer of Rx: cookies. Learn techniques, tips, and tricks from our local cookie artist. Take home your DIY project, 6 decorated cookies, and some sweet knowledge on this tasty skill! Each attendee will make a wall-hung shelf to take home.

Martha Gonzalez (lead singer, percussionist, and songwriter) calls it an “East LA Chicano @ rock group,” summing up its rootedness in the complex cultural currents of life in the barrio, its social activism, its strong feminist stance, and its rock and roll musical beginnings. Besides being a rock band, the group and its members participate in a much larger web of musical, cultural, and political engagement. His ensemble, Rumba Ketumba, is composed of a mixture of San Diego natives and musicians from around the world. Rumba Ketumba plays a high-energy mixture of Afro-Latin, Caribbean, Spanish Rumba, and other dance rhythms. Curator Yael Strom, whose Yiddish klezmer group has previously collaborated with Rumba Ketumba, will host and conduct a Q&A with the group after their performance. Running uninterrupted for 66 years, the Solana Vista/Skyline Elementary Schools’ Halloween Carnival in Solana Beach! The Solana Vista and Skyline Elementary Schools’ 66th Annual Halloween Carnival will take place at Solana Vista Elementary School located at 780 Santa Victoria in Solana Beach on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, from 11a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Proudly offered for sixty-six consecutive years, a long-beloved community Halloween Carnival is back in-person at Solana Vista School. This year’s Carnival will feature an array of games, activities, and performances for children of all ages as well as delicious food from local restaurants and lots of sweet treats and snacks for all tastes. In addition to the wide array of games offered, families can enjoy pony and “unicorn” rides, a petting zoo, bouncies and inflatables, and lots of great family Halloween fun.Costumes are not required, but are encouraged, and the event is open to the entire community. Proceeds from the Carnival benefit the Solana Beach Schools Foundation and provide essential funding for STREAM, Technology, Art, and supplemental Physical Education Discovery Lab classes at both Solana Vista and Skyline Schools. Water for People San Diego Committee along with Avista and KSDS Jazz 88.3 are proud to present Jazz on Tap 2023, a charity Jazz concert to support Water For People, a global nonprofit promoting the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services. The jazz festival will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Quartyard. Doors open at 2:15 p.m., with live music starting at 3 p.m. grooving away until 9:40 p.m. There will be food, drinks and live high-energy jazz music, highlighting local artists in a fun outdoor setting. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
