  • This 2-part workshop is designed to teach students the basics of woodworking with hand tools. Students will construct a wooden plant stand using half-lap, dowels, and notched joinery. Students learn how to safely use chisels and a mallet, along with other hand tools such as a card scraper, block planes, and spokeshaves. We will show sharpening techniques for hand tools and how to apply finish to the plant stand. Materials will be provided.   • Glazing Bowls Saturday, November 19 from 2 – 4 p.m. All Ages Welcome! Looking for something fun and creative to try with mom, your besties, or your family? Curious about the glazing process? Join artist Lydia Kardos as she leads this outdoor workshop decorating and glazing pottery bowls. She’ll show you how to get lovely colors and teach creative techniques for customizing your bowl. The bowls we prepare for you to glaze are made from high quality, mid-fire clay, which is food-safe and will last for years and years. Fun for all ages and skill levels.   • 4 Saturdays: October 22, 29, November 5 & November 19 from 10 a.m. – Noon, except November 19 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Ages 12+ Welcome! In this 4-week class, Instructor Lydia Kardos will teach the basics of handbuilding to create functional and sculptural ceramics. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with glazes. Students will complete various projects throughout the course, learning the basics of clay materials and handbuilding — skills necessary to work independently in open studio.
