Plunge San Diego, located at Belmont Park, is the official host location for the 14th annual World’s Largest Swim Lesson (WLSL)! On Thursday, June 22, thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities worldwide, including Plunge San Diego, will unite for the 14th year in a row to spread the word ‘Swimming Lessons Save Lives.’ WLSL was created to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent childhood drowning. Plunge San Diego’s event will feature a 15-minute water safety clinic, followed by a 45-minute swim lesson in a large group format with a curriculum set by the WLSL organizers. Afterward, guests will have time for free play on the obstacle course or to swim. All participants will also receive a limited-edition wristband to spin the prize wheel and win special prizes. Tickets range from $10-$20 per participant, and adults or children attending the event and not participating can pre-purchase a facility pass for $5. All guests entering the Plunge facility are required to have either a participant ticket or a facility pass.

Join One Paseo as they host free 45-minute yoga classes in their beautiful outdoor setting on the lawn behind Harland Brewing. Led by experienced yoga instructor Jenn Richardson, these classes will offer a unique and fun experience for families to bond and connect through yoga. Your kids will really thank you for enrolling them in one of our Zoo Camps this summer! Our half-day Zoo Camps introduce kids to what it’s like to be a Zookeeper. They’ll learn about nutrition needs for animals, make some behavioral enrichment, take part in some husbandry activities, and meet and interact with some of the 100+ animal ambassadors that call Wild Wonders home. Our camps are always great fun and educational. Many kids return year after year. Our camps are on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on June 20 and continuing through August 3. Its iconographic use in American Westerns has had a lasting influence on stock photography, advertising, and tourism. The valley has been given mythical significance as an image of a “primitive West” firmly in the hands of white people and meant to be protected from intruders. The fact that Monument Valley is traditional Navajo territory has been obscured in the process. A radical examination of Monument Valley’s representation in cinema and advertising since John Ford’s Stagecoach (1939), The Taking scrutinizes how a site located on sovereign Navajo land came to embody the fantasy of the “Old West,” replete with self-perpetuating falsehoods, and why it continues to hold mythic significance in the global psyche.

Old Town San Diego’s beloved Bazaar del Mundo Shops present three lively days of folk art, food and entertainment at its annual Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market, August 4–6.
