In a world full of redemption arcs and revised narratives, we remain heartened by all of the resonant losers and bad-luckers that history has forgotten. With some slides and a lot of good humor, we are eager to share some of our favorites with a live audience. Alex is a writer, a producer and podcast host (You Are Good). Woody is a comic, a stripper and a queer archivist and historian. There will be plenty of slides and a whole lot of jokes.

The annual Josephson-Spindler Gala Dinner & Silent Auction aims to expand awareness about food insecurity and its growing impact on our community. This year, the gala is on April 8, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the San Diego Natural History Museum in the historic Balboa Park. Each year this memorable event has garnered national recognition from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. All proceeds from this year's event will support Brightside Produce, Kids Eat Right, and the Student Nutrition Organization at San Diego State University (SDSU). Each ticket to the gala comes with a full dinner buffet with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options as well as 2 drink tickets. CEU's will be available for this event! For over 40 years, the Student Nutrition Organization (SNO) has served our community through volunteering, advocacy, and philanthropy. We strive for our members to develop strong professional and community relationships, and this gala is how we give back to our community locally and nationally. As the prevalence of food insecurity increases, SNO wants to bring attention to the Kids Eat Right campaign. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics developed this national campaign to educate families, communities, and policymakers about the importance of quality nutrition to promote optimal health for kids and their families. Additionally, we want to shine a light on a local non-profit, Brightside Produce, which is a nonprofit "committed to increasing access to healthy food options in underserved communities through produce deliveries, while reducing food waste and strengthening the local food system in San Diego County.” Brightside produce also offers the students of SDSU the opportunities to volunteer and give back to our local community, helping to fight food insecurity. Brightside helps the around 500,000 people in San Diego County are food insecure, with almost 165,000 of those being children and around 7,000 being students at San Diego State University. Join us for a night under the stars with keynote speaker Dr. Guadalupe Xochitl Ayala, and additional speakers, co-founder of Brightside Produce, Dr. Iana A. The San Diego Arab Film Festival is a project of KARAMA, a local non-profit that promotes understanding of the issues of the Arab and Islamic world and of the Palestinian issue in particular. The 2023 edition includes 8 features and 8 short films from across the Arab world and the Arrab diaspora. KARAMA’S goal is to grow the San Diego Arab Film Festival into a major cultural event that enhances the identity, perception, and understanding of Arabs and the Arab world. English Powerhouse Manchester City and Nexen will host the 2023 Nexen Man City Cup, beginning on May 25 with the Boys supergroups kicking off at the SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside. The Boys supergroups will feature the Manchester City boys academy and other top academy teams from LigaMX and MLS teams. The main tournament starts Saturday, May 27 – at three venues across the greater San Diego area: Boys 2009-2015 games will be held at Galway Downs (Temecula) for the first time in the tournament's history. All Girls games will be held at Surf Cup Sports Park in Del Mar, California – featuring Manchester City’s girls academy team for the first time. Finally, all l boys supergroups will continue to play at SoCal sports complex in Oceanside, California. The finals will be played on Monday, May 29 – featuring the supergroup finals at Surf Cup Sports Park in Del Mar, California. All other finals will be played at Galway Downs (Temecula). This year’s tournament will feature activations from Manchester City, Nexen, and PUMA–as well as a special visit from Manchester City’s mascot, Moonchester.
