This two-part, four-hour series, takes viewers on a journey through more than 10,000 years of North American history and across some of the continent’s most iconic landscapes, tracing the animal’s evolution, significance to the Great Plains, near demise, and relationship to the Indigenous People of North America.

Sunday, January 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. This workshop is designed to introduce students to the art of wet or Nuno felting. High quality merino wool and a silk scarf are used and they are lovely to wear against the skin (no itchy wool here!). This centuries old method of making cloth or fabric from the highest quality wool fiber is easy and fun. The process for most wearable felted items takes 3 hours or more to complete, which is why these pieces are more expensive than commercially made items. Each one is truly “unique” and you will never see another exactly like it. Well-felted pieces will last a very long time if cared for and stored properly. You can count on enjoying it for years to come. The end product in this workshop is a scarf made by you! It serves as a beautiful gift or something special and cozy to wear. No experience necessary. Ages 16+ welcome. Material fee: $35 payable to the instructor at the start of class. Oct. 26-Nov. 14, 2021 From The Old Globe: Rooted in the vibrant interplay between performers and audience, "Shakespeare: Call and Response" is an hour-long celebration of verse, music, dance, and audience participation. Built for plazas and outdoor venues, the piece features five virtuosic actors, who transform into a variety of roles based on feedback from the audience. Part “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and part “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged),” the event is anchored by a DJ inviting the crowd in while spinning hits to get people on their feet. No two shows are the same, but all include scenes from five significant Shakespeare plays. Originally from Canada, lead vocalists and brothers Patrick and Liam Croome bring a strong familial connection to their onstage chemistry. Drummer Brayden Tario has been best friends with the Croome brothers since high school, bringing a level of comfort and camaraderie to the group. 2019 saw the addition of Lake Elsinore native David Mills on electric guitar who brings a distinct southern California edge to the band’s sound, while also contributing on the pedal steel. Matt Spatol joined on bass in 2021. The name Daring Greatly is inspired by Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena” and the writings of Brene Brown, who authored a book with the same name. Richard Lederer returns to OTC for a night of Shakespeare. In honor of William Shakespeare’s birthday, Union-Tribune language columnist Lederer will demonstrate through excerpts from the Bard’s plays and sonnets that Shakespeare is alive and well and living robustly in San Diego.
