Experience a spectacular night of cosplay, characters, festive food, creative cocktails, immersive exhibits and entertainment all in celebration of Spider-Man at the Comic-Con Museum. The Comic-Con Museum Character Hall of Fame was established to recognize and honor the most important icons of our industry and the artists and storytellers who created them. We are honored to have this iconic and spectacular hero join the Museum Character Hall of Fame and to celebrate his contribution to the popular arts on July 20, 2022. The Hunger Action Hero Art Contest winners and their Hunger Action Heroes will make their public debut at the same event as Spider-Man entering the Comic-Con Museum Character Hall of Fame. The Comic-Con Museum and Feeding San Diego launched the Hunger Action Hero Art Contest earlier this year and asked K-12 students in San Diego County to submit their vision of a Hunger Action Hero who helps end hunger through food rescue. Hunger Halter and Demeter are the top two submissions as voted on by the community. The event is Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. (program starts at 7:30 p.m.) and tickets are available at comic-con.museum/night. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station returns for its 17th year to ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7. Attendees can peruse through the garden browsing artwork from more than 150 artists and enjoying food, wine and beer, and live entertainment at the two-day, free event in San Diego’s largest Arts & Cultural District. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will take place in the heart of Liberty Station at Ingram Plaza among 100,000 square feet of park-like space, with its towering American Flag surrounded by a rose garden and large spaces of grass and trees. Locals and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase artwork from local, national, and international artists in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, glasswork, fine jewelry, photography, and more. In addition to the artwork, guests will also be able to enjoy live entertainment from local bands and musicians, along with a beer and wine pavilion, as well as sweet and savory bites from a variety of eateries. Plus, the ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station venue also gives attendees an opportunity to visit a wide array of galleries and working artist studios. In addition, ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will also feature a Charity Art Fundraiser benefiting ArtReach San Diego, a nonprofit organization aimed at increasing equity in visual arts education in K-12 schools throughout San Diego County by delivering workshops to schools that have no other resources for art. Over 100 pairs of Vans shoes donated by Vans Fashion Valley will be designed by visual artists and sold online and in-person at ArtWalk on August 6 and 7. Attached is an image of the "Scar" mask from the Broadway "The Lion King" musical at Artemis Fine Art gallery with National Geographic photographer Beverly Joubert "Lion's eye view" in the background. Beverly started National Geographic Big cats' initiative to help support lions and big cats in the wild. The masks are in businesses around La Jolla, CA to support the musical and Lion conservation discussions. A portion of the profits from the sale of Beverly Joubert's photographs go directly to these non-profits. Visit the Artemis Fine Art Gallery to view her work! You’re in for a really wild and a really thrilling ride. There are such moments of raw beauty and simple chaos, which are surrounded by some of the more spiky writing. I think people will be pleasantly surprised.” And, as if that’s not enough, the evening ends with Beethoven’s famously riveting Symphony No. 5.
