Monday & Tuesday, December 22 & 23 from 1 – 4 p.m. Ages 13+ years welcome! This Woodworking Camp is all about designing seasonal ornaments in wood! We will cover shop safety and how to use a scroll saw, as well as best practices for sanding and finishing. Students will choose from a template to transfer to their wood, to create multiple pieces depending on their own speed. At the end of the camp, each student will leave with their own collection of ornaments as keepsakes or to share as gifts. This camp is recommended for teens ages 13+ years. Nicholas Carter, conductor Benjamin Grosvenor, piano San Diego Symphony Orchestra BRITTEN: Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, Op 33a RAVEL: Piano Concerto in G Major TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique” Three of the best-loved pieces in the symphonic repertoire come together in this concert which sweeps forward from the thrilling theatre of Benjamin Britten’s "Sea Interludes" from his opera Peter Grimes, depicting the changing colors, the play of light and the terrifying storms of the North Sea between the UK and Germany, to Ravel’s beloved G Major Piano Concerto, with its glittering echoes of American jazz in the outer movements, and a haunting tribute to Bach and Mozart in the lyrical central movement. This concert ends with one of the best known of all symphonies, Tchaikovsky’s Sixth, nicknamed by his brother “Pathétique”, in response to the music’s terrifying mixture of drama and heartfelt melodies. Fall Holiday Cooking Camp for Kids, 7-12yrs! In this seasonal camp, kids will explore the traditional process of making masa from corn, which we’ll turn into handmade tortillas and end our last class day with a taco party. We will prepare beans and squash to complement the festive meal. On the first day, we’ll begin the process of making masa, and on the second day, we’ll bring everything together to share a delicious meal as a group. Parents and families of the camper are invited to eat with us during the last half hour on the last day (3:30-4pm)! We are excited to share that the Mother, Child, and Adolescent HIV Program (MCAP) at UC San Diego will be hosting a Drag Brunch Fundraiser on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This lively and inclusive event will feature incredible queens from across San Diego, great food, and on-site testing — all in support of women, children, and youth living with HIV. Join us in celebrating community and raising critical funds! MCAP is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care for women, children, and adolescents affected by HIV. According to the CDC, nearly 19% of new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. are among women, and youth ages 13–24 account for 20% of all new HIV diagnoses. Many of these individuals face unique challenges, including stigma, unstable housing, food insecurity, and limited access to mental health services — all of which can affect their ability to remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Additionally, this year the U.S. has cut more than $450 million from HIV research and proposed eliminating over $1.5 billion in prevention funding—jeopardizing decades of progress and putting thousands at risk of new infections. And this is just the beginning. Your support ensures that women, children, and youth living with HIV are not left behind, providing the life-saving care and support they need to thrive.
