Flies can deliver painful bites. They irritate and stress livestock, and can transmit diseases, potentially creating serious health issues for your animals. In this 1-hour webinar, we will discuss an array of strategies you can use to control flies on your property, including the important role of manure management. We will be joined by guest speaker, Nancy Reigler, owner of Ramona’s Oasis Camel Dairy, who will explain her approach to reducing flies among her camels and other livestock. This webinar is funded by the County of San Diego and is intended for residents of unincorporated County. Anyone may attend, however, the webinar recording will be available for 1 week to unincorporated County residents only. Much folklore surrounds eclipses, which occur when one celestial body passes through the shadow of another. In this workshop, students will explore the evolution of the science that led to the current view of the Earth-Moon-Sun system. From this foundation, we will learn how to predict and observe eclipses. Finally, students will build pinhole cameras that will allow them to observe an eclipse safely. This is an in-person workshop.
