Calling all young poets! The Kids! San Diego Poetry Annual will host its second virtual workshop on Nov. 2nd at 4:00 PM. Francisco Bustos and Ying Wu will lead writing activities that stimulate creativity and self-expression. This workshop is free and open to young poets (ages 6 - 12) anywhere in San Diego County. The San Diego County Archaeological Society (SDCAS)'s celebration of California Archaeology Month and International Archaeology Day is held on the 3rd Saturday in Oct. as part of our annual Arch in the Park event. Our goal is to educate the public about archaeology, and to provide information on various career and volunteer opportunities with local archaeological companies, museums, universities, and organizations. Typically, more than 30 vendors take part in Arch in the Park. Arch in the Park is ideal for students and budding archaeologists to network, as well as family fun. Find out about archaeology, see archaeology exhibits, and talk to real archaeologists. Food, books, raffle tickets, and SDCAS merchandise will be available for purchase. Join us for the 50th anniversary of the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights, a holiday boat parade that will dazzle and entertain Bayfront crowds during the evenings of December 12 and 19 at 5 p.m. Participants in San Diego’s long-standing tradition will decorate their boat to fit this year’s theme, “The 12 Days of Christmas.” The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights brings more than 100,000 San Diego residents and visitors to the shores of San Diego Bay each year. The procession of approximately 80 lavishly decorated boats has become one of the most iconic events in the region. Beginning at 5 p.m. each night, the parade starts at Shelter Island and proceeds to Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, the Pier at Cesar Chavez Park, and ends at the Ferry Landing in Coronado. The parade takes about an hour to pass any given point and there are many comfortable waterfront viewpoints along the route.
