  • Join the Downtown San Diego Partnership’s Clean & Safe Program for a community clean up at Pantoja Park and the surrounding neighborhood. The morning begins promptly at 9 a.m. with a warm welcome and a brief safety overview before volunteers head out to their assigned areas. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Depending on the weather, consider bringing sunblock, a hat, or a light sweater. All necessary clean up tools and supplies will be provided by the Clean & Safe team—all you need to bring is your energy and community spirit.   • Three-time Grammy® Award winner and global icon Sarah McLachlan announces the 2026 extension of her "Better Broken Tour," produced by Live Nation, in support of her critically acclaimed tenth studio album of the same name, released September 19, 2025 via Concord Records. The summer run will kick off in Franklin, TN at FirstBank Amphitheater and travel across the U.S. with stops in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Bend, and more, before concluding with two nights on August 8 and 9 in Woodinville, WA at Chateau Ste Michelle Winery. The tour will also feature performances at several iconic venues, including Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, NY, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, and two nights at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Special guest Allison Russell will join on all upcoming dates. Montreal-born and Nashville-based Russell is a Grammy, Juno Americana, Socan & Folk Awards-winning & Polaris Prize short-listed artist, actor, author, songwriter, producer, human rights advocate survivor and mother. She is the co-founder of Once and Future Sounds and Love Rising. Her debut solo album Outside Child was released in 2021, followed by The Returner in 2023 via Concord/Fantasy Records. Keynote Guest: We are thrilled to welcome professor Chi Wang, electronic music professor from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, whose piece will be performed on the second night! Beyond the Music: Expect the unexpected! Throughout the festival, other pieces will feature contemporary dances, immersive theatrics, and lots of really cool sounds.   • We want to hear from you! The County of San Diego Planning & Development Services (PDS) invites you to attend the first Focus Group Meeting regarding the Tiered Winery Rural Residential (RR) Expansion Project. This project is part of an ongoing update to the Tiered Winery Ordinance, following a 2024 Feasibility Analysis. Through this project, the County will be looking at how different types of wineries could operate in RR zones under clear and consistent criteria. The project will entail changes to zoning rules, new operating standards, and a review of potential environmental effects under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Meeting Discussion Topic: Draft Zoning Ordinance Changes At this meeting, we will focus on drafted Tiered Winery Ordinance changes being proposed. We are looking for participation from community members who are residents in RR zones, business associates, agritourism partners, and agricultural resource organizations. Additionally, we will go over both noise buffers/setbacks for amplified live music and outdoor seating capacity for Boutique Wineries. The goal of this meeting is to obtain feedback on draft changes to the Winery Ordinance that fosters a thriving agricultural economy while maintaining harmony with nearby residents and preserved open spaces. PDS will host this in-person hybrid meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Noon.   • Explore surface design marbling & diffusion! Tuesdays, January 6, 13, 20, 28 & February 10, from 6-8:30 p.m., with last class in the series from 6-9 p.m. Ages 16+ welcome! In this 5-week series, students create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques for surface design. We will explore colorful marbling techniques and mocha diffusion, in addition to marbling with slips and glazes. Working with mid fire clay, students will complete multiple projects and will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors throughout the course. Beginning and more advanced students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create pieces that we’ll utilize the skills on that we explore in class. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Materials fee $30 paid to instructor.
