Registration is open for the St. Jude Walk/Run San Diego event during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be at 8 a.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 24 at NTC Park in Liberty Station. The St. Jude Walk/Run offers supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® a chance to walk or run and gather in-person or virtually to raise funds and awareness for the St. Jude mission: Finding cures. Saving children.® Thanks to generous supporters, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live. This year’s St. Jude Walk/Run series is nationally presented by Window World, Marcum Foundation, Amazon and Sigma Gamma Rho. For those who attend the St. Jude Walk/Run in person, there will be entertainment, snacks/drinks, and a mission moment to share why the community’s support means so much to St. Jude families. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Fundraising events like the St. Jude Walk/Run are helping to fuel the current six-year, $11.5 billion St. Jude strategic plan that includes tripling its global investment to impact more of the 400,000 kids around the world with cancer each year. Don LeMaster was the Musical Director for the 2002 production of Pageant at North Coast Rep, for Cygnet’s Bed And Sofa (the first time) and A Little Night Music at the Old Town Theatre space. Don has been involved in theater for the past 30 years, getting his start at Moonlight Amphitheater, then on to staff accompanist at SDSU, many productions as band leader at Lamb’s Players, Musical Director at Performance Riverside for 7 years, and was the Musical Director/Conductor/Orchestra Contractor for San Diego Musical Theatre. He was nominated for an Ovation Award for Performance Riverside’s production of 1776 in 2004, honored with a San Diego Theater Critic Circle Award for Outstanding musical direction for SDMT’s inaugural production of The Full Monty in 2007 and again for The Sound Of Music in 2013. Don was entertainer at Martinis Above Fourth and the Caliph Lounge for over16 years, and currently performs at Clark Cabaret, Parc Bistro, and on special occasions Mo’s Urban Bar and Grill. Dürer was so great an artist, an all-encompassing thinker that he was almost a Renaissance in his own right. He did it all: The first self-portrait, the first portrait of an animal, the first realistic landscape drawings. Dürer was interested in nearly everything, building up an Encyclopedia of his own time. It's fair to say that without Albrecht Dürer, printmaking as we know it would not exist. And even though his fame was largely built on his prints and graphic style, his financial income was secured with commissions of paintings of religious subjects and portraits, and these works remain held in high esteem for their draftsmanship and use of color. He was, and remains the most famous artist of the Northern Renaissance who successfully integrated an elaborately-detailed Northern style with Italian Renaissance's ideals of balance, coherence, and monumentality. In today's docent-led talk we'll join Dürer in his journey to celebrity status, gaining an understanding of why and how his art remains as important to us today as in his time. *This is a virtual event that will take place over Zoom.
