UPDATE: The New Play Festival has been rescheduled for April 1-3, 2022 New Village Arts, North County's cultural hub, is hosting its annual Final Draft New Play Festival which solicits emerging playwrights to submit a 10-minute, one act full length play that will be performed during the festival in January 2022. Special encouragement is given to underestimated and underrepresented community members in order to represent all artist voices in the community. Performances include 10 never before seen plays written by talented local playwrights, as well as delicious craft beers. If you'd like to partake in the storytelling, grab a pint and join the artists panel where community artists and leaders share what changes they'd like to see in the San Diego art scene, try monologue writing at the playwrighting workshop, or even take to the stage at the kickoff party open mic night. Lights! Camera! Autism! is an evening celebration to showcase the talents of many autistic adults in the areas of art, film and music hosted by, and benefiting, the Autism Society San Diego. This major event is a collaboration with Mainly Mozart’s diversity series and will be held at the new UC San Diego Park & Market downtown hub. The UC San Diego facility is located in San Diego’s I.D.E.A. development center and has been designed to foster innovation, education, diversity, and the arts. VIP Event begins at 4:30 PM and includes a hosted bar with signature cocktail, beer and wine, specialty appetizers and a swag bag. Main Event begins at 5 PM and includes a hosted bar with beer and wine. All tickets include valet parking. This is a rare opportunity for our community to experience the incredible creativity and skills of local autistic artists, musicians and filmmakers in the vibrant arts community downtown San Diego. All catering and decor will be provided by autistic individuals, ensuring all aspects of the event are presented and supported by individuals with autism. Whether you're naughty or nice, we hope you'll join us for Christmas crafts, snacks, and a visit from the jolly big man himself at the Mission Valley Library community room! You'll also have a chance to take pics by our paper gingerbread house, receives some goodies from Santa (while supplies last), and enjoy a boost of holiday cheer. Photos are free, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Only one registration is needed per family/group. Due to possible wait times, we will have a play area with toys and crafts for children. On the day of the event, please arrive at 2:30 p.m. We will provide numbered tickets to registered groups as they arrive. Numbers will be called in order. If the registration list is full and you aren't on the list, you are welcome to come on the day of the event. While we cannot guarantee you a photo, we will try to accommodate additional people if there is time remaining after all registered parties have finished. Please note: Weather permitting, refreshments will be offered outdoors. For outdoor activities, masks are recommended but not required; for indoor activities, masks are required for all unvaccinated individuals ages 2+.

Grassian is a Distinguished Professor at the University of California San Diego with appointments in the Departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Nanoengineering and Scripps Institution of Oceanography and she holds the Distinguished Chair of Physical Chemistry within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
