  • April 24, 2023 SHelter to Soldier and Zero8 Hundred to Host Inaugural “SISTERHOOD OF SERVICE” Event will honor more than 100 women who have served this great nation through military service San Diego, CA -- Shelter to Soldier, a San Diego non-profit committed to supporting veterans on their mental health journey with trained psychiatric service dogs, along with Zero8hundred, whose mission is to support transitioning military members throughout their post service lifecycle through impact, engagement, and community connection, will host the inaugural “Sisterhood of Service” event on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Mission Beach Women’s Club. Sponsored by The Boeing Company, the free event will honor more than 100 women who have served this great nation through military service. Shelter to Soldier and Zero8Hundred will honor their service, assist them with resources that can help them thrive following military service, and inspire them to continue to be a voice for women who serve and are transitioning to civilian life. The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. emceed by Kristi Hanson of Jagger & Kristi on Magic 92.5. Guests will be treated to lunch provided by Toast Catering, with inspirational messages from the region’s women in military and veteran communities. Guest registration will open at 9:30 a.m. and includes an event swag bag with self-care gifts as well as complimentary opportunity drawing tickets for giveaways. About: Shelter to Soldier is a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post 9/11 combat veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, Military Sexual Trauma, and or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. The program also places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active-duty military and veterans, as well as deploys the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors, a team of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers, to provide visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans and their families. Zero8Hundred’s Mission is to support transitioning military members throughout their post service lifecycle through impact, engagement, and social / community connection! Zero8Hundred provides a peer navigation, social work, platform that is collaborative in nature and is responsive to the needs of our service members transitioning back to our San Diego community.
