  • Learn to throw ceramics on a wheel! Saturdays, January 10, 17, 24 & February 7, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with the last class of the series from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. In this 4-week course, 3-hour per class series (each class is longer than our 5-week series), you’ll build a strong foundation in working with clay on the pottery wheel. Instructor Shachi Shah will teach you how to prepare clay, center it on the wheel, and create forms like cylinders, bowls, and mugs. You’ll also be introduced to trimming techniques and adding surface details like handles and texture. After a break to allow your work to be bisque fired, you’ll return for the final session to glaze and complete the cycle from raw clay to finished ceramic. This is a slow-paced, supportive class where exploration and experimentation are encouraged. Whether you’re brand new to clay or returning after a break, you’ll be guided at your own rhythm — with plenty of space to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow your confidence on the wheel. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Beginners welcome. Ages 16+ years We recommend that each student bring an apron to wear and an older towel or a cloth rag. • Military, first responders and sibling discounts: Email us for more information. • Scholarships available: Click here for an application. • Homeschool funds accepted: Click here for enrollment details. • If this class is full, join the Interest List to be notified. On Monday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 334 14th St Del Mar, Calif. 92014, the club will host its first-ever blood drive, bringing their energy, creativity, and big hearts to support patients in need. This group of 50 club members have already made a remarkable impact this year: collecting over 400+ toiletry donations with Torrey Pines Red Cross, raising more than $450 for National Red Cross funding, and creating hundreds of handmade cards for local veterans. Now, they’re taking their contributions one step further, organizing a blood drive to help ensure trauma victims, surgery patients, and those battling cancer or sickle cell disease have lifesaving blood available. Why Your Donation Matters: Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. By donating, you’ll help save lives, and encourage these hardworking students in their mission to give back. Complete a RapidPass® online health history questionnaire to save time at check-in Bring a blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of ID Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Benefits for Donors: $15 E-Gift Card of your choosing Snacks and a spring-themed surprise treat These students have spent the season planning every detail of this drive, hoping to inspire their community and give the gift of life.
