  • Open House San Diego 2026 is a free celebration of architecture, design, and the built environment. Presented by the San Diego Architectural Foundation, this annual event will open the doors to a curated collection of noteworthy spaces across East Village, Little Italy, City Center, Bankers Hill, and North Park. Participants can step inside architecture and design studios, cultural institutions, residential developments, educational campuses, hospitality spaces, and innovative mixed-use projects. Many sites offer rare behind-the-scenes access, guided tours, and conversations with the architects, designers, and owners who bring these places to life. Whether you’re passionate about design or simply curious about the buildings around you, Open House San Diego 2026 offers a unique opportunity to experience the city from a new perspective.   • Celebrate Easter Sunday by the bay at Sally’s Waterfront Dining with a festive brunch and family-friendly egg hunt in the marina courtyard. 11:15 a.m. or 1:15 p.m. (advance booking required). Join us on April 5 for one of two seating's. Little ones can enjoy a complimentary Easter basket filled with treats, including a goody bag with snacks, coloring books, crayons, and stickers to take home. We’ll also have dedicated kids’ tables where they can color and celebrate together. The egg hunt will take place in the marina courtyard next to Sally's, and every egg will be filled with candy. Keep an eye out for a special visit from the Easter Bunny, who will be hopping around in full Easter attire for photos and fun.   • Learn Plain Weave, Clasped Weft & Hemstitching! Saturday, December 6, from 2-5 p.m. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Beginners, as well as those with weaving experience are welcome. No experience necessary.   • Necessity Coffee, known for its carefully crafted espresso drinks and a strong community-focused, creative vibe, is hosting a grand opening celebration Saturday, March 7 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its newest location at 250 North City Drive in the North City district in San Marcos. The event will feature a live DJ and special giveaways. The first 50 guests in line will receive a free coffee and a t-shirt courtesy of North City, inviting neighbors to join the celebration and sample what’s in store. Founded by Jon Runion, Necessity Coffee offers a rotating drink program designed to keep the menu fresh while always delivering everyday favorites.   • Hoop Hysteria will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. hosted at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA and consists of two parts: the first part of the event will be a Resource fair which will allow attendees and their guests to connect with organizations, community partners, and vendors of the event, and the second part of the event will be a celebrity basketball game consisting of notable San Diego / Southern California individuals and popular online content creators. The main mission of this fundraising event is to raise funds for our on-campus food pantry, which serves over 10,000 students a year, and to open additional pantries across our other campuses.
