This Monday marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a time to honor King’s legacy and reflect on the progress and ongoing challenges in the fight for civil rights. We’ll hear about one of San Diego’s longest running events paying tribute to King, the Human Dignity Award Breakfast.

TrueCare, a nonprofit community health center serving North San Diego and South Riverside counties, is excited to announce its annual  “ILLUMINATION” gala, taking place on April 12, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the beautiful Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA. This event will be an evening to celebrate connection, belonging, and the advancement of health equity. This year’s theme “Lighting a Path to Belonging” highlights TrueCare’s mission to advance youth development through comprehensive health programs and services that promote the growth and sense of belonging for infants, children, teens, and young adults. By focusing on critical social determinants of health, such as access to care, nutrition, literacy, and behavioral health, fundraising efforts help ensure that children are well-positioned for long-term success and improved health. Have you always wanted to tap dance? In our Tap Workshop, taught by Lindy Lyon, we will work on the fundamentals of tap dance in the feet and in the body. Each week, students will build on the skills learned the previous week as we broaden our step vocabulary. Students will also learn about major figures and influences in tap dance history. Students will hone their tap skills with an emphasis on musicality, technique, and playfulness as they learn a dance. The Adult Tap Workshop is a great opportunity for beginners and returning tap dancers alike.
