Each spring, families, students, schools, and partners come together to lower barriers and open doors to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and careers. Chaired by the Fleet Science Center, the San Ysidro STEM Committee is proud to mark the 5th anniversary of this free, equity-centered, family fair. An event built with the community, for the community. In April 1926, Hugo Gernsback published Amazing Stories magazine for the first time, and while the name of the genre took a few more years to become a household term, many credit this moment with the birth of Science fiction fandom as we know it today! Join us for a two-panels featuring a discussion on the impact of Amazing Stories and Science Fiction as a genre! Featuring published authors, scholars, and podcasters with deep knowledge of the history and great works of the last 100 years. The water-based media exhibition runs Apr 26 – May 30, 2026, at our Gallery in The Arts District Liberty Station.
