For 6-8 year olds: Campers will create mixed media drawings and paintings inspired by Spring. For 9-12 year olds: Campers will learn how to draw realistically, using the Monart method to break all objects down into elements of shape. All skill levels welcome! Explore clay surface design techniques — Sgraffito & Stencils! Tuesdays, April 15, 22, 29, May 6 & 20 From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes and slips. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course while applying handmade stencils and layering techniques with colorful patterns as well textured colorful designs using the sgraffito technique. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. All materials provided. Monday - Wednesday, March 31, April 1 & 2, from 9 a.m. – Noon Ages 4-6 welcome! Taught by artist educator Yael Kent, your preschool age child will explore crafts across various mediums, including paper craft and a fun, magical homemade bubble-making activity. We will explore through sensory activities, crafts and stories while developing fine motor skills. Littles learn best by doing and playing. We practice handwork and workplay. We “play” with natural objects and materials! Each project is planned so that children build skills while satisfying their need to explore. Projects are safe, non-toxic, earth friendly, and full of creativity. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during this time. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station in the afternoon, and their camp begins as ours ends, we are happy to walk your child to their next camp.
