Monday – Wednesday, April 14 – 16, from 9 a.m. – Noon Ages 4-6 welcome! Taught by artist educator Yael Kent, your preschool age child will explore various crafts across a variety of mediums, like nature crafts in the garden, bubble making wands, nature weaving, and fossils with clay. We will explore through sensory activities, crafts and stories while developing fine motor skills. Littles learn best by doing and playing. We practice handwork and workplay. We “play” with natural objects and materials! Each project is planned so that children build skills while satisfying their need to explore. Projects are safe, non-toxic, earth friendly, and full of creativity. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during this time. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station in the afternoon, and their camp begins as ours ends, we are happy to walk your child to their next camp. If you’d like your camper to stay during the lunch hour from 12-1pm, for a fun, supervised space to eat their lunch (not provided) and a craft afterward, visit Lunch Supervision. Wilkinson. Q & A to follow, moderated by Danielle Glorioso. Dr. Michael Wilkinson is a board-certified cardiologist and lipidologist, and directs UC San Diego Health’s advanced lipid treatment program, specializing in inherited dyslipidemias like familial hypercholesterolemia and elevated lipoprotein(a). He focuses on preventing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through risk management and advanced therapies. As president of the Pacific Lipid Association Chapter and a National Lipid Association board member, Dr. Wilkinson advances lipidology education and research. An associate editor of the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology, he publishes extensively and mentors trainees. He completed his MD at Drexel University, residency at the University of Chicago, and fellowship at UC San Diego, where he was chief fellow.

Explore surface design marbling & diffusion! Mondays, April 14, 21, 28, May 5 & 19 From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. In this 5-week series, students create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques for surface design. We will explore colorful marbling techniques and mocha diffusion. Working with mid fire clay, students will complete multiple projects and will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors throughout the course. Beginning and more advanced students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create pieces that we’ll utilize the skills on that we explore in class. Materials fee $10 paid to instructor. Upcycle Your Own Item! Learn to Carve & Block Print! Choose from upcoming dates: Thursday, March 6, 6-8 p.m. -or- Thursday, May 1, 6-8 p.m. Have you ever wanted to print your own designs on shirts and bags?! In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the art of relief printing! Students will learn to design and carve their own linoleum stamp and block print an image onto fabric. We invite you to upcycle fabric from your own wardrobe or home for this class, so grab a well-loved favorite item or something that could use a fun refresh and begin imagining some fun designs you might carve and print! Because this class focuses on upcycling, please bring your own fabric to block print on. This can be clothing, a tote bag or something else. You may bring more than one item and the instructor can help you choose which to print on in class. We recommend you avoid fabrics that are especially thin, like satins and silks. All other tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied for use. Create your own handmade ceramic pottery!
