  • On September 19, join I Love A Clean San Diego for a powerful county-wide cleanup! Coastal Cleanup Day calls on 4,000 volunteers to take part in local cleanup efforts across San Diego County beaches, parks, neighborhoods, and canyons. In three hours, volunteers keep the places we love clean and beautiful by preventing tens of thousands of pounds of litter from reaching our waterways. When you participate, you're powering an international movement. Data collected from each cleanup site contributes to the world’s largest marine debris database. Registration opens September 1, 2026. Sona’s visit will be a fun brunch hour of questionable parenting, baby races, and virgin mimosas, followed by a book talk and signing. This is a fun day out for parents and families, with a twist. Do these sparkling drinks include any spirits? ABSOLUTELY NOT, but they are very spirited. World’s Worst Mimosas are available only while supplies last. Plain, non-sparkling OJ also available for younger children. Coloring book pages will be provided for any kid old enough not to eat the crayons.

The California Surf Museum (in collaboration with Oceanside Theatre Company) will host a Big Wednesday screening of "The Rising Dawn," a documentary exploring the emerging surf culture of Côte d’Ivoire and the story of pioneering surfer Souleymane Sidibé, at the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater in Oceanside. The evening will include a film screening, Q&A panel, and audience gathering centered on surf history, culture, and international storytelling. No experience necessary - just bring your determination! We have Men’s & Women’s Divisions available to meet your current strength level (The Rookies, Weekend Warriors, Iron Giants). Kids & Teens Can Be Strong Too! Young athletes will tackle exciting challenges - including our fan favorite stuffed animal overhead press for our 12 & under division- along with other age-appropriate events designed to make every participant feel like a champion. We have two age divisions available (12 & under and 13-17 year olds). Spectators are welcome to cheer on their favorite athletes and join in a community event of strength!

This project will be in collaboration with Green Sports Alliance for Green Sports Day while also taking place during San Diego Climate Week!
