Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4–6 p.m. Jean Krumbein (life drawing) PEEC for TEENS (13–18 years old) PEEC is a free program for teens, who are interested in art-making as an enrichment activity that goes beyond making crafts. The aim of the program is to provide a space for youth to create art, share stories, collaborate, explore, and identify new ways to use art in their lives. The Athenaeum offers facilities, resources, guidance, instruction, and support. The open studio program includes a rotation of multidisciplinary art instructors offering workshops in their respective fields, as well as curricular activities that involve the use of the Athenaeum library resources as a starting point for projects. Activities include drawing, painting, research, and introduction to various media. The program is free and teens can register. Step back in time with “Don’t Panic, We’ve Been Here Before” a multimedia romantic-comedy exploring the universal themes of love, life, and the pursuit of financial success, all through the lens of an American couple’s shared experience. “Don’t Panic, We’ve Been Here Before” takes audiences on a nostalgic and unforgettable journey through the decades. Beautifully weaving together the music, culture, and historical moments that have shaped the American experience from the vibrant ‘70s to the dawn of the new millennium. At the center of the story, are Mike and Jane Boomer, an all-American couple experiencing economic and martial ups and downs. Audiences will be transported to the disco days of the ‘70s, the tech boom of the ‘80s, the grunge-filled ‘90s, and the transformative early 2000s, reliving the sounds and stories that defined each era. “Don’t Panic, We’ve Been Here Before” is set to debut on September 27 at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center for a limited engagement.
