This versatile tool allows you to create the thick and thin strokes that define the Blackletter style. Blackletter, also known as Gothic script, is a beautiful and intricate style of calligraphy that has been used since the 12th century. Today, Blackletter remains a popular choice for tattoos, certificates, logos and various forms graphic design. Instructor: Eric Strenger Who should attend? An evening with Mr. Poe and Other Authors of the Macabre WRITE OUT LOUD, an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud for audiences of all ages, announces “Poe and His Progeny,” at the Villa Montezuma Museum in Sherman Heights. This historic Queen Anne Victorian was named “The Palace of the Arts," by Jessie Shepard, the musician, spiritualist and author who designed it in 1887. Performances will take place on October 25, 26, 31 and November 1. There are three performances each evening at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are $30.
