Resonance is a free, all-ages event hosted by St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church and Oceanside Theatre Company that builds community through creative expression. Held in OTC's Studio 219 (219 North Coast Highway), this is a space for all creatively-inclined people—artists, musicians, writers, and more—to showcase their work and to practice spontaneous creation together. It’s not quite an open mic, jam session, drum circle, or art night—but it has elements of all of these. All are welcome to participate as much or as little as they choose. The most brick-tacular time of the year has arrived at LEGOLAND® California Resort. The Carlsbad theme park kicks off its holiday celebration with the return of its three-story, 35-foot-tall LEGO® Christmas Tree, built from more than 366,000 LEGO and DUPLO® bricks, at the 23rd annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 1 at 5:45 p.m. This year’s ceremony will feature special guest and actress Danielle Fishel, best known for her role as Topanga on “Boy Meets World,” as the honorary tree lighter. Guests can gather around the iconic LEGO tree to witness the magical moment when all 500 LED lights and 40 LEGO candles come to life. The celebration continues with the season’s first holiday fireworks show, adding an extra burst of cheer to the evening. Spreckels Organ Society will host a Holiday Celebration & Annual Holiday Sing at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in the heart of Balboa Park. Starting at 1:30 p.m. there will be an Educational Workshop, with Raul Prieto Ramírez, San Diego’s Civic Organist and the Society’s Artistic Director, will invite kids and families to join him on-stage to build a little mechanic pipe organ, assisted by docents. While the kits are being built on stage, Ramírez will perform some fun holiday music for the audience. Once the little pipe organs are set and ready to play, Ramírez will have the kids play together with the Spreckels Organ. There will be a Concert & Annual Sing-Along following the educational workshop, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Ramírez will play a few magnificent pieces by great composers, serving as an interlude before the audience is invited on stage (approximately 2:45 p.m.) to participate in the annual sing-along of Christmas carols and popular holiday songs. “Hallelujah” by G.F.Haendel will be sung by the entire audience, while performed on the Spreckels Organ by Ramírez; this serves as the golden closure for the annual Holiday Celebration Event.
