Join us for a meaningful event to support the Garden of Innocence, a non profit organization that provides dignified burials for abandoned and unidentified children in San Diego. Our intention for the evening is to honor the children of Garden of Innocence with Kundalini yoga movement, songs and chanting led by Lena Bravo, followed by a sound healing experience with Rebekah Finn. This event is for all yogis - seasoned and beginners! No experience necessary. Bring your yoga mat and settle in for an evening of community, connection and healing. 100% of the proceeds go to Garden of Innocence. Many of those who work in the death care industry are drawn to holistic ways of grieving and healing, and we're excited to share the 'other side' of our death care team at this event: Lena Bravo-Olsher is the owner of Bravo Family Mortuary along with her husband Steve. She's passionate about providing personalized, compassionate care to the families she serves as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. Lena is also a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor and will be guiding us through movement, songs and chanting at this event. Rebekah Finn is a certified Death Doula and manages the team at Topkare Hospice. She's also incredibly musically gifted and will be leading our sound healing segment at this event which will include a wide range of instruments, drums and vocals. Penny Waugh is a Home Funeral Guide and founder of The Death Network, she's passionate about lifting the taboo around talking about death and is part of the movement to normalize the narrative about death and dying. Visions Museum of Textile Art is hosting their 25th international juried art quilt exhibit, "Quilt Visions 2024." Discover innovative textile art that explores form, craftsmanship, and surface design techniques from 28 artists. "Art of Navigation" draws upon some of the finest and most beautiful examples of period instruments, charts, and voyage accounts, illuminated by the work of documentary maritime artist Gordon Miller. The showcase is embellished by exquisite models of the storied ships which conducted the enterprise from the Museum’s own collections, and even majestic full-scale operational versions such as the galleon San Salvador, man-of-war H.M.S. Surprise, schooner Californian, and the Maritime Museum of San Diego flagship Star of India, veteran of twenty-one navigations around the earth. As a powerful and mysterious art, navigation and the territorial claims of trade and empire it conveyed drew much of its authority and mastery from the same aesthetic as did all art. In consequence, the instruments, reference texts, and nautical charts which were its tools and products were therefore also objects of exquisite beauty. Exhibit entry included with general admission.
