North City is giving San Marcos runners a new reason to get moving on Saturday mornings. The North City Run Club, which currently meets Thursday mornings at 7 a.m. from Union Co-Work, is expanding with a new Saturday morning run launching Saturday, September 12 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The weekend run will start at Necessity Coffee and will offer more than just a traditional run, incorporating stair workouts, intervals, urban fitness and more. Runners will receive 20% off any post-workout drink at Necessity Coffee. To celebrate the launch, North City is also partnering with prAna for a sample sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Necessity Coffee. Shoppers can save up to 70% on prAna styles, with 100% of proceeds benefiting local nonprofits, making it a chance to shop while supporting a good cause. On Friday, September 25, Songwriter Sanctuary San Diego returns to Normal Heights United to host its first Hispanic / Latine Heritage Month celebration, presented in partnership with alumni artist and guest emcee Julia Sage. Featured artists include Good Gravy Street Blues, Rey Wolf, and Nathan & Jessie. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with featured music at 7 p.m. Prior to the show: An unplugged/acoustic “Pre-Show Pantry Jam” (artist to be announced) will take place on the sidewalk stage just outside the venue from 6-6:30 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy music as they contribute unopened/unexpired food or gently used clothing to NHU’s community pantry, fridge, and closet. About the Featured Artists Good Gravy Street Blues Good Gravy is a street band heavily influenced by the bluesmen/women of the 30’s & 40’s. Good Gravy’s flavor can be described as a modern approach to American roots music or Americana. Within their recipe are the remnants of blues, bluegrass, folk, and jazz. Captivating melodies, thick vocals, and intriguing dynamics, this band’s imagination is fresh in the live music scene. Rey Wolf Rey Wolf is the latest project from songwriter Stephen El Rey, shaped by a cinematic sense of his own past and the shadowed corners of American music traditions. Born in Victorville, CA and raised in San Diego, Rey cut his teeth busking the streets of San Francisco and L.A. before landing a publishing deal with Warner Chappell, with songs placed in film and television including Embrace of the Vampire. His sound draws from a childhood in El Centro, where jukeboxes spun Mexican love songs, Johnny Cash, and 50s rock and roll. Rey Wolf channels those roots into something darker and more restless, moving between jazz noir, border town blues, Chicano soul, and unpredictable rock and roll with a crooner’s edge. Join us for the 2026 Tolley Dances™ on the MTS Blue Line Trolley! This iconic event has been bringing San Diego together for 28 years through site-specific dance that highlights our city's diversity, culture, and community. Choreographers include Erica Buechner, Jessica Rabanzo-Flores, Spencer John Powell, SDDT's Artistic Director Terry Wilson and the Founder of Trolley Dances™ Jean Isaacs. Parking: Parking available at UTC Mall in the designated Transit Center parking structure. Ticketing: Ticketing table can be located at the top of the UTC Mall parking Structure next to the Trolley. *Kids age 8 and under may ride and join the tour for free with a paying adult. It takes the questions about the meaning of life out of the renaissance context of the original and reframes them in terms of contemporary concerns, with plenty of laughs along the way.
