Walk with Us to Cure Lupus is the Lupus Research Alliance’s signature national fundraising program devoted to finding a cure for lupus. All are welcome. No limits. No tickets required. Registration is recommended. This event will include inspiring speakers, light grab & go refreshments during the walk, a t-shirt contest, and a variety of activity booths. Free to participate in this event, but donations are appreciated. 100% of all donations go directly to lupus research programs. Lupus is a chronic and complex autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. More than 90 percent of people with lupus are women, and lupus disproportionately affects women of color. In lupus, the immune system, which is designed to protect against infection, creates antibodies that can attack any part of the body including the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs, blood, skin, and joints. Reignite your creative spark at a fun interactive course for adults this Fall. From playwriting, to acting to musical theatre, Spotlight On courses are designed for people 18 years and over, of all levels of experience from beginner to professional. Everyone is welcome. Led by our accomplished and welcoming teaching artists, Spotlight On offers a casual, supportive environment that inspires life-long learning and community. Courses are offered as a Summer series and a Fall/ Winter series in 6-7 week sessions, with weekly 2-hour classes. La Jolla Playhouse is known for developing innovative new works for the stage, and Spotlight On courses are a perfect way to get a taste of the magic that goes into creating a play or musical at one of the country’s most renowned theatre companies. Celebration to honor three decades of empowering small businesses with millions of dollars in loans, fostering self-sufficiency, and strengthening local economies-- San Diego, CA -- Accessity, a nonprofit microlender empowering small businesses with loans of up to $100,000, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Thursday, October 17. Since its establishment in 1994, the organization has supported hundreds of small businesses each year, providing over $80 million in loans during its 30-year history. The organization will commemorate its 30th anniversary 2875 Dewey Road, on Thursday, October 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This event will highlight the contributions of small businesses across Southern California and honor the significant impact Accessity has made over the past three decades. Guests will enjoy an array of delicious food and drink options as they mingle and connect with fellow attendees. The event will feature an Accessity-Funded Business Marketplace, where guests can explore and experience firsthand the diverse products offered by the small businesses that Accessity supports. Additionally, local entrepreneurs will share inspiring stories of success and perseverance. Tickets for the celebration are $81.88 through October 17. When the organization launched locally, it started with a small team of dedicated staff and made just five loans totaling $6,000 in its first year. In 2023 alone, Accessity provided $11.9 million in funding through 386 loans to business owners, resulting in the creation or maintenance of 1,248 jobs.
