Hosted by Branch 22 of the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association, Inc., this organization’s mission is to restore, preserve, and exhibit gasoline and oil engines, gas/diesel and steam tractors, power driven farm machinery and any other equipment of historical value. The members will be exhibiting their collection of antique tractors, pumps, washing machines, irons, tools, stationary engines, sewing machines and other types of household and farming equipment. There will be live demonstrations of traditional skills such as blacksmithing and quilt-making. This is a unique opportunity to experience a piece of history. Join in the fun by designing and building a scarecrow to exhibit in the Bates Nut Farm Pumpkin Patch. Keep the lost art of scarecrow making alive! Your scarecrow will be on display in the Pumpkin Patch through October. Individuals, groups and clubs are invited to enter; each entry will receive a free jack-o-lantern pumpkin and certificate of participation. All winning scarecrows become the property of Bates Nut Farm and will be added to our famous scarecrow collection. Bring your scarecrow and completed registration form to the pumpkin patch from 1-5 pm on Friday, October 11th or before 10 am on Saturday, October 12th. Cash prizes and gift certificates will be awarded to the top entries in each category. This September, Ballet Collective San Diego is proud to present "RESONANCE," a melodic evening of diverse contemporary ballet works by local choreographers Tylor Bradshaw, Reka Gyulai, Holly Meacham, Whitney Edwards, and Emily Miller with Guest Choreographer Holly Curran (Metropolitan Opera NYC) choreographed to a wide range of musical offerings, with special guests The Hausmann Quartet and other musical collaborators. "RESONANCE" touches the pulse of what is important to each choreographer and dancer—the rapture in hearing music that is close to us, what is real and honest between two people sharing space, and the power of many bodies breathing together as one.
