Join us in Encinitas for even more ways to interact with contemporary art! Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA San Diego / North expands on our 2025-2026 exhibition season theme, "On Healing." The exhibitions are part of a year-long exploration of the ways artists address the various socio-cultural wounds revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the associated programs and events seek to explore how art can serve as a vital tool for mental, physical, emotional, and community wellbeing. Weekly Wellness Saturdays will take place most Saturdays throughout the year during ICA San Diego’s open hours (Noon – 5 p.m.), and includes: 1–2 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 2:15–3:15 p.m.: A complimentary tour of the current exhibition in its Lower and Upper Pavilions, the outdoor garden, and Sculpture Trail 3:30–4:30 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 12–5 p.m.: An all ages art-making activity related to this year’s "On Healing" season 12–5 p.m.: Complimentary admission to ICA / North’s exhibitions Admission to Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA / North is free, and a donation will be suggested for healing activities, and made directly to the facilitator. September 6: 1 p.m.: Breathwork with Suzanne Lederer — This practice helps you connect with the deeper layers of your mind and body, allowing you to bring awareness to and process emotions, stories, and even trauma that may have been stored or hidden in the body. (**Bring an eye cover and no heavy food 45 minutes before class. It makes it harder to breathe. For your safety, persons with the following conditions should not participate: If you are pregnant, you have a current diagnosis by a healthcare professional of (PTSD), Hospitalization for any psychiatric condition or emotional crisis during the past 10 years, Strokes, seizures, TIAs or other brain/neurological condition or disease.) 3:30 p.m.: Affirmations & Sound Healing with Ashley Murdock — Join us in the garden for an empowering combination of positive self-talk and sound healing. We’ll start by creating personal affirmations – positive statements that shift how you feel about yourself and reinforce your inner strength. Through guided meditation, you’ll practice and embed these affirmations, turning them into powerful tools for daily use. After building your affirmation practice, you’ll relax in the garden as crystal singing bowls, chimes, and rainstick create healing vibrations around you. Two upcoming dates: Sunday, October 26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - or- Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-1p.m. Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed Irish linen, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a stone center. Topics to be covered include the differences between pine needle types, preparing the needles, waxed Irish linen, basket centers, embellishing your basket, and how to start and how to finish your basket. Students have the option to weave a basket, a pendant, or an ornament. Basket Weaving is a wonderful way to recycle from nature and is also a meditative activity. No experience necessary. New 2025 testing data shows third- through eighth-graders scored far below 2019 levels in reading. In math, some grades have made gains, but all are lagging compared to before the pandemic.

Water for People San Diego Committee along with Avista and KSDS Jazz 88.3 are proud to present Jazz on Tap 2025, a charity Jazz concert to support Water For People, a global nonprofit promoting the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services. The jazz festival will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Quartyard. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with live music starting at 2 p.m. grooving away until 8 p.m. There will be food, drinks and live high-energy jazz music, highlighting local artists in a fun outdoor setting. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $45 each. 7th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN IN LA MESA VILLAGE Trick-or-Treating - Pet Costume Contest & More Friday, October 31, 2025 from 4 – 6 p.m. WHAT: The La Mesa Village Association (LMVA) invites the community to take part in their 7th Annual Halloween in La Mesa Village event that features family-friendly trick-or-treating in downtown La Mesa. Dress up in costume and bring your trick-or-treat bag to collect goodies from participating businesses who will be handing out treats along La Mesa Blvd. and adjoining streets. There will also be fun, Halloween-themed stilt walkers cruising up and down La Mesa Blvd. (both sides of Spring Street) interacting with everyone – perfect for a selfie! We will also have a DJ playing fun tunes by the Fountain Courtyard near the La Mesa Blvd. Trolley Stop, as well as a Balloon Artist. The La Mesa First United Methodist Church will host a free “spooky” organ concert at 4:30 p.m. playing a variety of Halloween-themed tunes. The church is located at 4690 Palm Ave. (corner of Palm Ave./Lemon Ave.). Guests can also enjoy spooktacular decorations at a variety of businesses, including our La Mesa Village Farmers Market vendors who will deck out their booths for the event. The Farmers Market will be taking place during the trick-or-treat event and add a fun element to the Halloween festivities! Additionally, Team Z Realty will feature a free selfie booth with an over-the-top theme – this year is “KPop Demon Hunters”! The Howl-o-Ween Pet Costume Contest will take place at the Fountain Courtyard area next to the La Mesa Blvd. Trolley Station located at Spring St. and La Mesa Blvd. The Pet Costume Contest will feature three categories for pet owners to dress up their pet(s), including Scariest, Cutest, and Best Pet/Pet Parent Combo. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. Participants can start checking in at 5 pm and judging will begin at 5:30 p.m. Shops and restaurants will also be open for business and visitors are encouraged to explore the variety of stores and eateries available while you are here for the festivities!
