Learn to basketweave with Marsha Orr! The Lace Collar basket presents many traditional weaving techniques in a small project (5” x 8”) that can be accomplished in an afternoon. Weaving techniques include creating a solid woven base, twining, over-under interrupted weave, 3-Rod wale, and the final flourish, creating a beautiful braided rim. The basket can be woven in natural reed, stained, or dyed reed can be added for color. Additional colors of reed will be available in class for students to weave with. All techniques are demonstrated during the class. Students: Please bring sturdy scissors & an old towel if you can! No experience necessary. May 25, 10 a.m. – Noon Beautiful and functional, this Macrame Shelf Wall Hanging is a great way to add texture to your space and also display your favorite nick-nacks! This beginner-friendly workshop will teach you several different macrame knots and also help develop your knotting skills. Finished shelf and hanging dimensions are approximately 12 inches wide by 36 inches in length. Choose from a basic Pine wood shelf, or upgrade to a darker-hued Walnut wood. All supplies and materials are included. Nicknacks in photo are not included. This beginner 3-hour woodworking workshop will acquaint students with a woodturning lathe, its parts, the tools needed, safety tips, tool sharpening techniques and how to shape wood on a lathe. The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a honey dipper as their take home project. This class is appropriate for ages 16 years and older. All materials included.
