  • Learn to Weave with Silk! No experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! In instructor Jeanine Ertl’s class, students will weave together in a space of colorful creativity and openness. She will provide instruction on weaving, a warped lap loom and a rainbow of recycled sari silk ribbon and yarn fibers to ignite your imagination. And we’ll weave together, learning and playing with the basics of the process from start to finish, each creating a unique handwoven that can be hung or draped, according to your desires. Please feel free to bring any items you may want to incorporate into your weaving, like interesting fibers, foraged and gathered natural objects, shells with holes, beads, etc. you may want to incorporate into your weaving. Each Weaver will complete a one-of-a-kind Handwoven Wall Hanging. In addition, if you find that you’re in love with the practice, you will have an option to purchase the loom you are working with, as well as additional fiber and tools to continue at home.   • Come learn how a hardback book is put together as you make your own case out of binder’s board and decorative papers. You’ll see the anatomy of how a book is constructed, learn about the materials which go into bookbinding, and create your own hardcover case to house a pre-sewn block of blank pages. No experience necessary.   • Join us in the woodshop for this 5-hour brush making workshop! We will cover shop safety and how to use various machines such as the bandsaw, spindle sander, edge sander, and drill press. You will hone your carving skills by adding curves and texture to your piece. We will build upon machine knowledge and cover wood shaping using various hand tools such as rasps, files, spoke shaves, hand planes, chisels, and gouges. We will also discuss design principles, functional applications, the properties of wood, and brush materials such as Tampico fibers. At the end of the workshop, each student will leave with a unique brush to be used in the home, the shop, or as a beautiful sculpture or gift. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome. Join us for an immersive and hands-on ceramic workshop where you’ll uncover the ancient art of crafting your very own ocarina, a whimsical and enchanting musical instrument. Throughout this comprehensive workshop, you’ll learn the step-by-step process of creating an ocarina from raw clay to a beautiful musical instrument. Under the guidance of our instructor, Israel Basurto, you’ll delve into the world of ceramics, exploring essential techniques, and shaping clay with your hands. From molding the body of the ocarina to intricately carving the finger holes and crafting the mouthpiece, you’ll acquire the skills to bring your musical vision to life. Embrace your creativity as you personalize your ocarina with a variety of decorative techniques, such as incising patterns, adding texture, and experimenting with underglazes (…all time permitting! Some folks work faster than others). By the end of the workshop, you’ll have not only crafted a one-of-a-kind ocarina but also developed a deeper appreciation for the ancient craft of ceramics.
