The Forum is complimentary, and attendee registration is now open. The San Diego Padres will honor their beloved former Chairman and Owner, Peter Seidler, with a celebration of life ceremony at Petco Park on Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. PT. The team will also wear a “PS” jersey patch in Seidler’s memory during the entirety of the 2024 regular season. Current and former Padres, team and league executives, local dignitaries, family members and special guest speakers will be in attendance for the celebration of life with Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo serving as Master of Ceremonies. Admission is free, with fans required to redeem digital tickets beginning Thursday, Feb. 29. Gates will open at Noon and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free of charge and will be available in neighboring Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot and Padres Parkade. The first 10,000 fans at the celebration of life will receive a complimentary jersey patch, and the patch will be available for sale at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park this season with the net proceeds benefiting the Padres Foundation. In this workshop, students will learn about the origins of Kintsugi, the Japanese ‘art of golden repair,’ and its meaning as it relates to one’s own life. Instructor Luis Santiago explains, “In these uncertain and crazy times, I believe people can find some solace and comfort in realizing that their so called “scars” and imperfections are things that do not need to be hidden or ashamed of.” While the traditional craft of Kintsugi can take multiple months to complete, mastery in application, and involves toxic lacquer, the techniques used in this workshop to repair two ceramic pieces and embellish these pieces in two distinct Kintsugi-inspired ways brings it to a much wider audience and allows for completion in one workshop. All materials are included. Students will learn two distinct ways of highlighting the breaks of their provided ceramic pieces and will take home a unique piece. Learn Plain Weave, Clasped Weft & Hemstitching on a Rigid Heddle Loom Select a date from the drop-down menu. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Beginners, as well as those with weaving experience are welcome. No experience necessary.
