Join us for a day of fun to celebrate and kick off San Diego Pride! Local San Diego Queens from the Haus of St. James, will join us from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for Storytime with Queens, followed by a Q&A session to learn more about the Queens themselves and the art of drag. Enjoy Pride-themed arts and crafts all day – featuring a cookie decorating contest to be judged by the Queens! All programming, except for the cookie decorating contest, is included with standard Museum admission or membership.

Exposure Skate, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in north county San Diego, is hosting a free learn-to-skate clinic for women and nonbinary adults 18 and up on Saturday, June 24 from 3-5 p.m. at Encinitas Community Park. This monthly program, “Sesh(E),” features free skate instruction from local Olympic and pro skateboarders as well as opportunities to participate in acts of service. This month, the Exposure will be collecting canned goods to donate to the Community Resource Center’s Food and Nutrition Services. Participants will get the chance to win raffle prizes from Arbor Skateboards Garden of Life, HydroFlask and our Exposure merch. Those who are interested can register for free here.

Plunge San Diego, located at Belmont Park, is the official host location for the 14th annual World’s Largest Swim Lesson (WLSL)! On Thursday, June 22, thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities worldwide, including Plunge San Diego, will unite for the 14th year in a row to spread the word ‘Swimming Lessons Save Lives.’ WLSL was created to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent childhood drowning. Plunge San Diego’s event will feature a 15-minute water safety clinic, followed by a 45-minute swim lesson in a large group format with a curriculum set by the WLSL organizers. Afterward, guests will have time for free play on the obstacle course or to swim. All participants will also receive a limited-edition wristband to spin the prize wheel and win special prizes. Tickets range from $10-$20 per participant, and adults or children attending the event and not participating can pre-purchase a facility pass for $5. All guests entering the Plunge facility are required to have either a participant ticket or a facility pass.

Unfortunately, women, mostly indigenous, non-Christian, or non-white women, have had these home remedies and practices weaponized against them with false accusations of witchcraft and harm to society. Participants in this class will learn about herbs and make their own herbal candles. The activity will allow individuals to learn about herbal properties and personalize their candles by anointing them with herbs.
