  • Every room of the Marston House in Balboa Park tells the story of San Diego.
  • Join us in the woodshop for this 3-hour scroll saw skills woodworking workshop! In this scroll saw for beginners class, students will learn the basics of getting started in the hobby. A list of the tools and supplies needed will be provided, along with a description of the blade types and samples of items that can be made with them. Students will also cover a brief overview of cutting techniques, and tips for success at home. We will then go through four hands-on exercises, to help build your skill set and become comfortable using a scroll saw. You will practice cutting curves, sharp turns and straight lines. Afterwards we progress through the steps and learn new techniques alongthe way. You will leave with the items you make throughout the day. Pictured is the final exercise which uses all of the previous skills practiced earlier to complete it. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron, but we have some for borrow if needed. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary.   • The 44th Annual Adams Avenue Street Fair features 75 musical acts on six stages and is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026. Southern California’s largest free two-day music festival is held on 10 city-blocks in the community of Normal Heights. 2026 headlining performers are: Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Bardo, influential American rapper and record producer Masta Ace, legendary blues guitarist Chris Duarte Group, accordion driven American Cali-Mex roots band Los Fabulocos, dub-hop and world music collective band Boostive, haunted bossa nova and exotica band Creepxotica, party psychedelic rock band the Wild Wild Wets, San Diego’s original brass band Euphoria Brass Band, “Queen of boogie woogie” Sue Palmer & Her Motel Swing Orchestra, beer-soaked, full-tilt rock ‘n’ roll band the Midnight Rivals.
