  • As part of Tijuana River Action Month (TRAM), come help native plants reclaim an area around the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. This is part of an ongoing effort to restore the habitat of the Tijuana Estuary and promote the biodiversity of the area. Specifically, we will continue the work from 2024 when the American Conservation Experience crew helped remove large areas of saltbush (Atriplex semibaccata) from the reserve. At this event, we will remove saltbush sprouts and we will plant coastal sage scrub plants such as, black sage, monkeyflower, bladderpod, and San Diego sunflower. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED. Ages 12 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver by their guardian).   • Honor the lives of loved ones at Día de los Muertos with the Imperial Beach Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the San Diego County Library. Enjoy a Ballet Folklórico performance by Mar Vista High School, Mariachi by Southwest High School, face painting, sugar skull decorating, Ribbons of Remembrance, food trucks, and more! In honor of Día de los Muertos, we invite the community to take part in creating a shared altar, celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed. Guests are welcome to contribute a photo to the altar: - Photos must be 4x6 or smaller - Photos only- no other items may be placed on the alter - We recommend bringing a copy rather than an original, as the altar will be respectfully removed at the end of the event. Any uncollected photos will be recycled. - For safety reasons, frames with glass are not permitted. - Complimentary cardboard frames will be provided at the event Come share memories, celebrate life, and honor those who came before us.
