What about Kit Marlowe and his Tamburlaine? Or Ben Jonson, Will’s supposed pal? And the others? Kim Keeline will provide a survey of these contemporaries and consider any of their influence on the familiar canon. Kim Keeline has a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Southern California. She has taught multiple courses at USC, as well as at Southwestern College, MiraCosta College, and Central Texas College. She has been a frequent speaker at academic conferences and has received several prestigious awards for her work. The San Diego Civil War Round Table is hosting a “Show and Tell” program where buffs are invited, for example, to present a book review of their favorite campaign narrative or a travelogue about an especially fulfilling battlefield visit. We also certainly invite descendants to talk about their Civil War ancestors. Amateur historians may even wish to highlight some interesting fact uncovered in research. "The Pirates of Penzance" follows the story of Frederic, a young man mistakenly apprenticed to a band of soft-hearted pirates. As he completes his term of service, he vows to dedicate himself to eradicating piracy—until a technicality binds him to the pirates indefinitely. Along the way, he encounters the beautiful Mabel, her eccentric father, Major-General Stanley, and a bumbling squad of police officers who are more charming than effective.
