  • The Friends of the Malcolm X Library present our Annual Fundraiser, Gift Day. The Friends support the library, in part by having book sales and hosting events. This event is free and will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our event will feature amazing local talent including a live band and DJ, a choir, a story teller, line dancers and face painting for the kids. Local vendors will be selling a variety of great merchandise. The Friends of the Malcolm X Library will be selling hot dogs, nachos, beverages and books.   • Join us for our upcoming exhibition ”VIBRANTE” with Tijuana based ceramic studio lustre.estudio We will be hosting “VIBRANTE” at our gallery from September 21, through the 29. Opening reception will be on Saturday, September 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Lustre Studio community will present works from their collective that seek to build a sanctuary of well-being. Through the use of vibrant colors and conceptual proposals their ceramic art will take visitors to a state of pleasure and comfort. As part of our opening reception, we’ll also be including special performances by bambulamusic, nicole.mcfly, & kissingerisdead at the backlot of the gallery.
  • Robert Glick is an artist who paints to discover ways in which language coalesces with visual composition to achieve a higher form of expression. Much of his work deals with the changing face of nature and the human condition.   • Craig Santos Perez is a Chamoru from the Pacific Island of Guåhan (Guam). He is a National Book Award winner and the editor of nine anthologies, including Indigenous Pacific Islander Eco-Literatures. He is also the author of Habitat Threshold and From Unincorporated Territory [åmot]. For the past twenty years, he has been involved in demilitarization, sovereignty, environmental justice, and climate change movements across the Pacific.
