    Pathways to Citizenship, a Solana Beach-based non profit serving qualified individuals seeking US citizenship, will host its annual Party with a Purpose fundraising fest on Sunday, Oct 13. The "sunset on the green" happy hour will feature steel drum band "Sounds of Paradise," tasty international cuisine, tropical beverages and the opportunity to win holiday packages, local entertainment, and one-of-a-kind art pieces by local artists. Support goes to pro-bono legal and educational services for Ukrainian and Afghan refugees and qualified immigrants from around the world while enjoying cool drinks, good food and sunset on the green.   • Kumiko Woodworking Workshop
    Two upcoming dates: Sunday, Feb 11 -or- Sunday, March 10, from 1-4 p.m. Join us in the woodshop for this 3-hour kumiko skill-building workshop! Kumiko is an ancient Japanese woodworking technique of assembling individual pieces of wood, without the use of nails, into geometric patterns. Kumiko has been used in constructing shoji screens, latticework, and other decorative elements in traditional Japanese architecture. In this workshop, students will learn the basics of kumiko, including the use of hand tools to cut the pieces and assemble the frame. Each student will work on a small project to finish and take home. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron. No experience necessary.
