  • Imperial Beach Sun & Sea Festival Returns August 17 -- One of San Diego County’s largest festivals held annually on the sand at Portwood Pier Plaza is back this year featuring a gigantic monument castle, a street fair, live entertainment, and the Kids-n-Kastles competition for ages 12 and under will compete, sponsored by the Imperial Beach/South Bay Kiwanis. There will not be the traditional master's sandcastle competition but with the perfect location and ideal weather, it's a great day trip.   • The Original 40 Brewing Company is hosting the Hoppy Hoedown on Sunday, July 28 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., and the country western-themed afternoon features the famed Rancher Hat Bar out of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Folsom, California, Guests can make their own custom cowboy and trucker hats in Rancher’s only scheduled San Diego appearance this year.
