In this one-day workshop, students will learn about the properties of wood and how different wood species need to be approached when sanding and finishing. We will cover shop safety and how to use various machines such as the bandsaw, spindle sander, edge sander, and drill press. The skills learned in this course will allow you to elevate your future projects by adding curves and texture. We will build upon machine knowledge and cover wood shaping using various hand tools such as rasps, files, spokeshaves, hand planes, chisels, and gouges. Whether you’re new to the woodshop or have extensive woodworking experience, we welcome you to join us for an afternoon of shaping wood! Materials are provided.
