Caltrans, Clean California and I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) are excited to announce a major community cleanup and beautification event in San Diego on April 6 as part of the ongoing efforts to keep local California communities clean and beautiful. Community groups, local businesses, and residents are invited to volunteer and join the event to help beautify and transform the Azalea Park area. Clean California San Diego Transformation Event Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Azalea Park (4036 Pepper Drive, San Diego, CA 92105) located in Manzanita Canyon Open Space within San Diego’s Pueblo Watershed. The event aims to revitalize Azalea Park. Volunteers will engage in litter cleanup, spruce up the Azalea Park Water Conservation Garden, restore park benches and tables, remove invasive species (such as Mexican Palm Fan and Eucalyptus), plant native species, and install interpretive signs. Educational tables with recycling games and activities will promote environmental stewardship and the Clean California initiative. Amanda started her musical career in San Francisco, she frequented many an open mic and one in particular at the 16th and Mission Bart Station. It was there that she was inspired to begin her path as a singer songwriter. A few years later Amanda found herself at Mesa College studying jazz and singing for the Mesa Big Band then later on joining a Congolese band in 2010 called Bateke Beat. Amanda’s musical endeavors lead her to performing at various clubs and festivals in San Diego. Portela, used her new found passion for singing Jazz and started a popular “Jazz Jam” at a Wine Bar in the heart of Hillcrest. Shortly their after, Amanda joined the Indie rock band by the name of Viva Apollo. Viva Apollo was notorious within the local San Diego music circuit, performing in all kinds of venues including a late night local cable access show, Tonight in San Diego. Build upon the foundations established in Level 1 and delve deeper into the art of improvisation as we learn how to build fun and engaging scenes. You will learn to create and embody memorable characters with an emphasis on the importance of building strong relationships within scenes. You will also learn how to make strong choices to heighten scenes. The final week of the 8-week class will be a show for friends and family. Street food from many cultures around the world will be available for purchase, and your purchase supports sidewalk vendors as they battle unjust legislation that, until recently, made it virtually impossible to be a legally-recognized business.
