Dr. Gideon Rappaport, San Diego’s premier Shakespearean dramaturg, will discuss his latest book William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which aims at nothing less than a radical restoration of the meaning of Hamlet. Though it is one of Shakespeare’s greatest and most beloved plays, Hamlet has been repeatedly misunderstood. This is partly because audience assumptions about the nature of reality have undergone huge changes between Shakespeare’s time and ours.

August 27 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Scent-Sational: Create Your Own Signature Fragrance with a French Perfume Expert and Scent Strip Perfume This workshop is designed to introduce you to the world of perfumery. No previous experience with fragrance making is required. During the workshop, you will create your own signature scent using a variety of essential oils and fragrance notes provided by our French Perfume Designer, Jil Croquet. You will learn about Perfume composition, have fun smelling and enter the very secretive world of Perfume Formulation. You will learn how to blend and balance scents, as well as the basics of perfume making techniques. All materials and tools will be provided, and the cost of materials is included in the workshop fee. This workshop is suitable for ages 14 and up. Golden State Ballet presents "From New York, with Love," April 6 and 7 in San Diego at the historic Balboa Theatre, and April 10 in Orange County at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.
