Calling all superheroes to take on the challenge of the City of Carlsbad’s Super Hero Obstacle Race. Dress up like your favorite super hero at Carlsbad's Super Hero Obstacle Race at Alga Norte Community Park. Parents and children run together through a super hero themed 2K obstacle course. Defeat villains while leaping over tall buildings, crawl through toxic tunnels and navigate 20 obstacles throughout the park. Conquer inflatable mazes and slides, wrecking balls, tights ropes, web crawlers and other obstacles along the way. Participants must be 4 years and older. Groups will be launched every 10 minutes. The race will take approximately one hour to complete. You can pick a start time that works for you. Registration is open until 5 p.m. the Friday before the event or at the event until 9:30 a.m., if it is not sold out. This 4-hour workshop is perfect for anyone excited to explore a different twist on a creative book structure. Originally created by Hedi Kyle, the traditional flag book has small panels that cross each other when the book opens and closes. In this modified version all of the panels sit in alignment, and when the book is open, your original, hand-decorated tags are on display. Students are welcome to bring their own paper sources they might choose to incorporate. No experience necessary. Tours will begin at Old Town with stops at Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village and Santa Fe Depot. In partnership with San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, SDDT has presented Trolley Dances™ for over 25 years. Trolley Dances™ was created by former Artistic Director Jean Isaacs to make dance accessible to our entire community by taking art “to the people.” Each fall, tour guides lead groups of audience members on and off the trolley to view original pieces of site-specific choreography. The Six String Society’s Celestial Sirens production is ready to dazzle Oceanside on Sept. 7 with several of San Diego’s most celebrated performers! This eclectic show, set in a “Living Room,” mixes some playful theater along with music ranging from soul, blues, and jazz all hosted by Sir Robert Parker. As the show unfolds, each of the Sirens take the stage to perform their own unique style of music featuring the electric Whitney Shay, (a four-time San Diego Music Award winner and Performer of the Year in 2019) who will light up the night’s sky with her powerful, soulful voice and her fun loving personality. We are also very excited to bring in San Diego Jazz icon Rebecca Jade making her long awaited Six String Society debut. For years she has toured the world with international stars including Sheila E, Dave Koz, and Elton John, but on Sept. 7th she will share the stage with Whitney and Taryn for the very first time! Over the years Jade has won multiple San Diego Music Awards including ‘Song of the Year’ in 2021 and Performer of the Year in 2020!
